NLP: |
-
studies
and isolates ways to model excellence, and
-
examines
different ways people think, feel,
communicate with one another, and build relationships.
|
|
Basic Principles of
Excellence |
-
You have
all the internal resources and capabilities you need
-
The
meaning of any communication is the response you
get and the effect it has
-
There is
no failure, only feedback
-
The map
is not the territory: every person's map of the same
territory is different and unique |
|

Finding the Way to Success |
-
Define precisely what you want - set your goal
-
Start acting to achieve your goal
-
Watch the changes produced by your actions
-
Be flexible - change your action plan if the current
one does not produce the required results
|
|
The Four Main Pillars of
NLP |
-
Relationship, and
specifically that quality relationship of mutual trust and
responsiveness known as rapport. Whatever you do and
whatever you want, being successful will involve relating to
and influencing others. So, the first pillar of NLP is to
establish rapport with yourself and then others.
-
Setting your goal - knowing what you want. Precision is the key to success.
The more precise you are knowing what it is that you want
and why, the more likely you are to get exactly what you
want. And the more likely you are to know when you have
achieved it. It is whole way of thinking - consistently ask
yourself and others what you/they want.
-
Sensory acuity -
using your senses: looking at, listening to and
feeling what is actually happening to you. Only then will
you know whether you are on course for your goal and can use
this feedback to adjust what you are doing is
necessary.
-
Behavioral flexibility
- have many choices of action. The more choices
you have, the more chances of success. If we do what we
always did, we get what we always got. Keep changing what
you do until you get what you want.

NLP - a Process that Leads to Continuous Learning and
Growth |
|
NLP is:
-
the study of what works for you and for others
-
the study of the best practice
-
the process of unpacking the 'how' of what we and
others do
-
the modeling - a process of inner benchmarking,
unpacking our thinking strategies as well as our external
behavior
This understanding of conscious and unconscious
structure of how and what we and other do gives us
choices:
-
the choice to refine what we do
-
the choice to stop what we do
-
the choice to do it differently
|
|
Presuppositions of
NLP |
-
The map is not the territory
-
Experience has a structure
-
If one person can do something, anyone can learn to
do it
-
The mind and body are parts of the same system
-
People already have all the resources they
need
-
You cannot not communicate
-
The meaning of your communication is the response you
get
-
Underlying every behavior is a positive
intention
-
People are always making the best choice(s) available
to them
-
There is no such thing as failure, only feedback
-
If you want to understand - act
-
If what you are doing isn't working, do something

What is NLP?
NLP is the psychology of
excellence and the technology of achievement
and success.
'Neuro' refers to the mind and how we organize our mental life.
'Linguistic' is about language, how we use it and how it affects us.
'Programming' is about our sequences of repetitive behavior and how
we act with purpose. NLP is an accessible model to enhance effective
communication,
personal change and personal development.
"The way you think affects the internal
and external language and the concepts you hold. This is turn
affects the way you behave. It is a dynamic and synergistic process:
the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Any internal or
external change to any of the components will have an impact on the
whole."8
Main Benefits of Using NLP
NLP explores how we think and
feel and studies or 'models' excellence in every walk of life. NLP
is first and foremost about action. By using NLP you can give
yourself more conscious choice over what you do and the way you act.
Using NLP at work and in your personal life will sharpen your skills
and boost your achievements. "The theories and practices of NLP will
help you discover what makes some people excel in all aspects of
their lives, and will enable you to do the same."8
The awareness of how we do
what we do is the key to self-management and influence. We can't
control people or events, but we can manage our response to them.
Our skill and our ability to manage ourselves directly affect the
extent to which we achieve our goals.
Harnessing the Power of Your Unconscious
Mind
Our unconscious mind has a far
greater influence and can accomplish far more than the conscious.
NLP practitioners make the unconscious conscious. They are more
consciously aware of what they do unconsciously. This gives them the
power of managing their personal development in a way that enables
them to realize their true potential.
"NLP is a process of discovery
and as such it is about continually uncovering new ways of thinking
and working. It is a process of continuous learning and growth and
is key to profound personal development... By using NLP you can give
yourself more conscious choice over what you do and the way you
act."1
Taking a Systemic View of Things
NLP teaches you to habitually
take a systemic view of things - to look at the different elements
in a situation as parts of a system which functions for good or ill.
This system involves people and a sequence of events, thoughts,
feelings, actions and interactions. Once you understand how the
system is working - for or against you - you have a means of
structuring things differently in the future.
Applications of NLP to Business
NLP has given rise to a trail
of techniques that can be used both personally and professionally.
They are used internationally in various business areas and enable
you not only to reach and influence others, but also to reach and
perfect the different parts of yourself.
NLP can also help managers
analyze success secrets of their best employees applied by intuition
and teach others these secrets, thus "cloning" success without
cloning people.
NLP and the Modern Manager
In new era of rapid
change, systemic
innovation, knowledge
enterprises, employee
empowerment and creative
teamwork, an increasing number of executives shift emphasis from
classic
control-based managerial practices to managing the web of
relationships in their organizations. They realize that it is their
expertise in building and maintaining harmonic relationships
between
workers and managers, between
employees and customers that makes the difference and helps
their companies to achieve sustainable
growth.
If you wish to be a new
manager, you must understand that your art of working with other
people is the most important one you should master, and your
capability of influencing
others and motivating
them to achieve corporate goals is the most important manager's
talent. Though this art is practiced by a few by intuition, it can
be learned and mastered by many with the help of NLP techniques.
